Alrite, so I've been under some pressure to give an intramural update, but there's a good story after it too. This week, the Killer Nuts won convincingly, 44-0. We started the game with 2 straight interceptions but got our act together when Jeff threw me a 5-yard pass and I eluded a couple of defenders to score. Our defense held strong, and I caught another touchdown pass from Jeff. Once again, a solid defense held and we got the ball back. I caught another 5 yard pass and sprinted for the sidelines. There were 2 defenders, one about 5 yards away and the other about 10 downfield. I got the corner on one, and the other wasn't going to let me. So, I got the corner on the first one, and still at a dead sprint, I cutback between the two, heard the loud "OOOOHHHHHHs" and headed to the end zone. More defense and Jeff threw a 15 yard touchdown to Sarah who crossed the goal line. Even more defense, we got the ball back and Jeff hit Randy on the first play for a long touchdown. They got the ball back, and on 4th down threw deep. It was overthrown, and I sprinted over from my safety spot to make the pick barely keeping my foot inbounds. I should have dropped it because it was 4th down, but I was stupid. They ended the game after that on a "mercy rule". We won 44-0. Good times. Good defense.
This is how bush league OSU can be:
My friend lost his football season ticket. All the games are printed on one ticket and you bring it to each game and they scan it and let you in. Well, he misplaced it and we had to go get it replaced. We went to the Schott and the ticket agent asked him to pay face-value for the last two games. I immediately asked him if I could get into the games with the ticket he lost. He said, "No, we void that ticket." I smiled and asked why he had to pay full price for another ticket for the same seats he lost. No one was getting in with the other ticket, so shouldn't he just have to pay a small fee for a new ticket. "No," he replied, "this is just policy." I could tell he didn't agree with it either. I didn't want to fight with him because he really agreed with us, but was just doing his job. I respect that. So, we waited for him to print out the ticket. He never did, he just said, "Just bring your BuckID (our student ID...get it...Buckeye-D...BuckID...its cute.) to the next game. The ticket is on there." My resident immediately says, "Well, why didn't you just do that in the first place instead of giving me a ticket I could lose?" Again, the ticket man said "This is just what we do."
So, OSU, the largest school in the country, one of the richest schools in the country, the most passionate football school in the country, is going to make my friend pay face value for a ticket that he lost, but is now worthless and he doesn't even get a new ticket in return. He paid $56 ($46...haha Jeff) at the window and got nothing for it...they didn't even remind him what seat he sits in. Seriously, we have the technology to void a single ticket out of 105,000 tickets sold, but for what? So they can make extra money and charge an out-of-state college student for a ticket that he already paid for? That, my friends, is the definition of Bush League.
